IDOM operates in the USA and Canada under the name of "AEC Idom". In 2006 IDOM purchased the American AEC Engineering Inc. (AEC), now fully integrated into the Group.

AEC was founded in 1980 as a structural engineering firm based upon the premise of quality services that are on budget and on time for the enhancement of the clients’ profitability.

Originally based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the company continued to grow and began to serve clients all over North America opening offices in Richmond, Virginia, and Calgary, Canada.

At present, the main market segments of AEC Idom are Power, Renewable Energy, Petrochemical, Manufacturing, Pulp and Paper, Steel, and Food and Beverage.

Material Handling Projects in various locations		Engineering services in the Paper and Pulp sector
Design, evaluation and construction supervision of a wide variety of material handling systems. Much of our experience is in designing complex installations in existing facilities for production line retrofits. Client: 3M Company & Others		Since 1982, AEC has been providing engineering and mechanical integrity services to Domtar mills at Plymouth, NC, Nekoosa (pictured), WI, and Rothschild, WI.


Sulfur Recovery Unit Adition at St. Paul Park (Minnesota)		Biodiesel production facility (Minnesota)
Engineering services to accommodate the network of new and modified piping and electrical connecting into the plant, and design of a major new pipe bridge spanning one of the primary refinery entrances. Client: Marathon.		Process model for a 3 MM GPY biodiesel facility, based upon the utilization of a unique metal catalyst reactor. AEC designed also the Balance of Plant tank farm, truck loading facility and secondary containments. Client: Ever Cat Fuels.
